Desmond Rice
As a longtime resident of the district since 2006, along with my wife and two children who have been attending Birmingham School district since the 2015 school year, I've actively engaged in numerous volunteer opportunities, notably with the PTA, Proud Dads, and other initiatives closely linked to my children's education.
Professionally, I am an Occupational Therapist with a primary focus on assisting individuals who have acquired traumatic brain injuries. My unique background enables me to simplify complex medical matters and make them understandable to patients and their families during challenging times. My role as an OT revolves around identifying alternative solutions to help others overcome their challenges, and I plan to use those skills to assist our members and community as a whole.
As a visionary leader, my unwavering commitment is dedicated to expanding equitable opportunities for all children within the school district. Through my involvement with BAAFN, I channel my energy towards enhancing access to the district's resources and creating an environment that nurtures the results we aspire to achieve, not just for my own children but for all students
